In Tasmania these euphemistic 'Autum Burns' or put another way "Regeneration Burns" or put another way "Burning Season Conflagrations" are seasonal expressions of a time when horizons are filled with smoke indicating that yet more forest is being ravaged and put to the torch by FORESTtasmania annual "Burn-Offs". The 'forest debate' takes on an emphasis, an emotion filled, and somewhat polarised, debate, about the wisdom of these 'burns', the jobs that are linked to them and forestry, economic health and more. Occasionally, the 'climate change idea' comes into the discourse and it has been ongoing for so so long. These 'burns' have become a part of 'Tasmanian life'.
AND there is much more out there and there will be more still until the
'forestry issue' in Tasmania is in some way resolved.
